Exciting news as polar adventurer Ben Saunders is going to be joining Majell and Robbie on the ice.
Ben brings a huge amount of experience in the cold environment, extreme polar endurance and an ability to look good in cold weather clothing. The world leading polar explorer also has some ultra running in his background and is the perfect addition to the team.
To give a little more background this is taken from Ben’s website:
“Ben Saunders is one of the world’s leading polar explorers, and a record-breaking long-distance skier who has covered more than 7,000km (4,350 miles) on foot in the Polar Regions since 2001. His accomplishments include skiing solo to both the North and South poles, and leading The Scott Expedition, the longest human-powered polar journey in history – the first completion of the expedition that defeated Captain Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton – a 105-day round-trip from Ross Island on the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and back again”.
Ben was excited about the Baikal Traverse because it is an opportunity to push against physical limits in a different way to his usual epic adventures and without the huge levels of exhaustion associated with polar trips.
